Chris Small and Jessica Stout introduce inBible Community, a welcoming place for anyone wanting to dig deeper into the Bible and understand its story of God. 

In this first episode, Jessica and Chris introduce themselves and the vision behind this new community. One co-host is an English teacher who found that the tools of literature open the Bible up in vibrant, life-changing ways; the other has served as a pastor and as a teacher (both high school and university levels), and loves helping people find discovery moments in the Scriptures.

Then we turn to the first of our three “in” words: inquire. Together we explore 2 Timothy 3, where Paul calls Scripture “God-breathed” (theopneustos), and trace that breath of God from Genesis 2 to the parting of the Red Sea. We look at 2 Peter 1, where Scripture’s authors were “carried along” by the Holy Spirit, and consider how the Bible, like Jesus himself, is the divine clothed in the human. What does it mean that all Scripture is “God-breathed”? And why does that matter for how we read the Bible today?
